Russian astronauts are called cosmonauts
China astronauts are called taikongnaut
Malaysian astronauts are called can-or-nauts!!!
With the recent hoo-hah about the first Malaysian astronaut that gone to space this morning, I must say that I'm rather amused with the method of selection.
First of all, the astronaut that is sent to space is a doctor cum part time model. Yes, an orthopedic from UKM that models during his free time. How on earth did you manage to dig up a doctor and send him to space? Via competition mode ala American Idol. *smack head with palm*
Although he may have gone through the proper training that is necessary for his trip to space, I cant help but feel weird about it. *frown* I think if the country would have made a wiser choice by choosing someone from the right field rather than picking someone with the most votes to go to space.
But nonetheless, I pray for the safety of these astronauts as you can never predict anything in space. One incident that did not go as planned was space shuttle Columbia and I hope that they all return in one piece, still alive and kicking.

I don't know what the big hoo ha about this. Its not like China when they send a man into space all by themselves.
Putting someone into a space shuttle is easy.

Ok la, since it's the first time for malaysia, surely will get excited. I'm sure if singpaore send our first, the garment will make the biggest hoo-haa first.

Putting someone in a space shuttle is relatively easy if he/she had receive proper training.
I just feel that people from the right sector should be choosen instead :S
Well, i guess any country would make a hoo-hah if it is their first!
